You are right. Its tacky.
No one ever said that the writing had be absolutely perfect. It just has to be hand-written. If you dont do calligraphy, then your very best writing will do.
The point is that it is hand written (as best as possible), not that it is perfect.

P.S. Whatever you decide... please no clear labels or labels of any kind. Those are the worst.

If you really want to save on bucks, hand write them yourself or even if you have a good friend with great handwriting have her or him help out. Besides, it will make your invitations more personal and 'inviting' than a regular, everyday printed label. Your invitations will be beautiful because you took the time to make sure each one had a touch of you as a couple.

I had handwritten mine too to keep costs down. If you write neatly that's all that matters

If I am receiving an invite, I honestly don't care if my address is written or printed off a computer. As long as the invite arrives, that's what really matters.

I am doing my invites myself with an invitation kit. They turned out really great. Looks just like I ordered them. I am also printing the addresses on the envelopes with my printer. I have OK writing but I also have arthritis so I'm not fixing to have hurting hands from writing out 150 addresses. I think it is perfectly fine to print them like that. It looks a lot better too. The ones I have done so far look really nice. Good luck!

Did you know that a handwritten invitation in your own hand is more formal and more correct than an invitation written by a professional calligrapher, than a printed or engraved invitation? Don't take my word for it -- check with Miss Manners. Your handwriting need not be beautiful, just being legible is perfectly fine.

The point I am making is that this isn't worth being stressed and fretful over. If you have enough envelopes to throw away the ones you make a bad mistake and you WANT to address them by hand, that will be fine. If you want to use your computer to print labels or print directly on the envelopes, that will be fine too.

I would NOT use the computer my cousin tried it and had to make corrections using guess what? Yes, a pen. We wrote out our invitations out ourself and they looked beautiful. I do calligraphy, but wrote them out very neatly. They are beautiful. Do handwrite the ivitations. You will save $$ and have you imput into your wedding. Best Wishes and Congrats!

I wouldn't care what the invite looked like - as long as it said all the details, I would overlook any imperfections with the big fact that you are getting married! Print it or hand it (whichever is easier/cheaper), if someone complains they're not worthy of getting any invite.
