Comments on: thinking about having my wedding on thursday, whats your opinion?

Why not have a small ceremony to actually get married on the Thursday, but have the reception on Saturday or Sunday. It’s all well and fine to say it’s your wedding and you can do whatever you want, but the point of the reception is to invite family and friends to celebrate with you. Having it on a Thursday means that if people come they will most likely have to leave early or take off work the next day.
I say again that it’s your wedding, but the minute you involve other people you have to be at least a little caring about them too.

Cons:
A lot of people will feel it’s too much trouble to attend a weekday wedding.

Pros:
Only people who actually love you and celebrate your wedding and marriage will attend.
Venues will be cheaper.
Venues will be available (no fighting off other couples for the same time/day).
You’ll keep your special day.
Travel is cheaper during the week than on weekends (hotels and airfare).
You won’t have to worry that you won’t have time to set up because another ceremony is occurring right before yours and you won’t have to rush because there’s not another couple waiting for you to vacate the premises.
You’re not likely to have wedding crashers or your gifts stolen or any of the other things which may happen at Saturday weddings.
People aren’t as likely to drink as hard on a work day.
You can have a four-day weekend!

I had a Wednesday wedding and we felt it was truly special because we knew that everyone was there for us and not to attend a party (aka the reception).

You can get married any day of the week that you would like. However, keep in mind that a Thursday wedding will likely be difficult for a lot of the guests. Out of town guests in particular might have difficulty arranging for time off and travel for a Thursday wedding. Also consider that many of your guests are likely to leave the reception early (maybe even before dinner is over) on a Thursday night because they will need to work on Friday morning.

That said, you’ll probably have no problem finding a venue (and likely will get a discounted price).

Would I attend a Thursday wedding? If it were local, I would attend, but I might not stay very long at the reception. If it were an out of town wedding, there would be less likely that I could attend, but for a very close family member or longtime friend, I would do my best.

I agree that you should get married any day you want, especially if it’s an important date to you. You just have to realize that a lot of people may not be able to make it. Unless it was a close friend or a family member, I’m not sure I would take the day off of work to go to a wedding. Of course you could always have it in the evening.

that would tell me there ganna be less people there and alot of people work that day most cant get out for a wedding satedays are better everyone can go then

I would attend a Thursday wedding, but that’s just me.

I think you should consider how many out of town guests you would have coming, especially the number of people that would have to stay overnight. Having it on a Thursday would mean they have to take 2 or 3 days off work instead of one.

You will always find people that complain about something–I say that you should get married whatever day you want to!
